
Each business within an industry has to be aware of the legislative framework it operates within. CE marking on a product declares it complies with relevant European health, safety & environmental protection legislation and Bonbrand classes this as an asset (it sure is a liability without it).
You would expect an airline to comply with all the aviation regulations but jumping through the hoops will be a large barrier to entry.
The banks like Lloyds, KBC and ING are finding they need European competition commissioner approval to raise funds and restructure and effectively to remain in business.
Intellectual Assets come in various form and a brand should think of legal and regulatory compliance as an asset not a cost burden.
