Retail I P from Asda

Book Cover

Intellectual Property takes many forms and the retail sector produces several interesting case studies. This text ‘The Big Three: Tesco, Asda and Sainsbury,The Argument Reconsidered’ provides an ‘innovative approach to learning about key marketing concepts imbibed by these UK based mega supermarkets, … the main marketing themes of market analysis and consumer behaviour in marketing programmes and those in strategic marketing planning’.

What drew my attention to Asda in particular was today’s Daily Telegraph article about the ‘Restructuring’ of ownership from Wal-Mart to Corinth Services Limited ‘for good financial management reasons’ which can be a euphemism for Tax Savings.
So tax planning, sorry good financial management reasons, joins my list of Intellectual Property a company possesses.
